In this article, I want to show you on how to make Warcraft/Dota natively compatible with wide-screen monitor. As I know, on the game option, you will find no wide-screen setting.
So.......
In this example, I want to set for : 1440 x 900
First, open registry by Start > Run > regedit
Open : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Video
change value : resheigth (setting decimal) to 900
change value : reswidth (setting decimal) to 1440
change value : refreshrate (setting decimal) to 60 or 75 (set similar to your current refresh rate)
* don't forget to change to decimal because it will default set to hexadecimal
Here list for other wide-screen resolution :
852x480 16:9 Widescreen
1280x720 16:9 Widescreen
1365x768 16:9 Widescreen

Fast switching between Warcraft and Windows
When playing Warcraft/Dota, sometimes you want switch to other application (eg. Winamp, Yahoo Messenger, etc) and experiencing long screen change delay between application (Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Esc)
In this article, I want to share on how to make fast switching between Warcraft/Dota and other windows application without long delay.
note : [WIN] is Windows Button on Keyboard.
A. Dealing with paging memory
1. Press WIN-Break or Right Click My Computer icon then choose Properties to open System Properties, then choose Advanced Tab
2. Choose Setting on Performance to Open Performance Options then choose Advanced Tab
3. Choose Change on Virtual Memory to Open Virtual Memory
4. Set drive (where your Warcraft folder installed/copied : eg C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\ is C: Drive, or D:\Games\Warcraft III\ is D: Drive) to have paging memory allocated with initial size 1536 and maximum size 3072. On the example, I've allocated C dan D just for example.
5. Press OK, OK, and OK.
6. Restart Windows (if asked to)
B. Set Warcraft and Windows screen on same resolution
1. Open Display Properties from Control Panel
2. Choose Settings Tab
3. Write down your screen resolution (on this example I have 1024 × 768 × 32-bit)
4. Choose Advanced
5. Choose Monitor Tab
6. Make sure your Refresh Rate is 60 Hertz atau 75 Hertz (Warcraft didn't support more than 75 Hertz)
7. Press OK
If you have widescreen monitor, please continue to my article Warcraft with Wide-screen Monitor and skip step below.
8. Run Warcraft/Dota
9. Open Options -> Video
10. Set your resolution (from last step : 1024 × 768 × 32-bit)
